Scenic cruises, sigh-inducing scenery and traditional Italian fare made this Lake Como wedding one to love..
Adored for its ancient villages, majestic mountains and old-school charm, Italy’s Lake Como won the hearts of Lauren and Jon during their first visit years ago. Inspired by their travels, and still smitten with the region, when the couple celebrated their engagement “Lake Como kind of felt like home,” says Lauren. “I’m from Australia and Jon is from the UK, and we didn’t want to choose between the two countries for our wedding. So, we met in the middle… or close enough!”
When the special day arrived, guests were treated to a surprise that really set the mood. “We gathered everyone at the nearby village of Lenno and told them a coach would take them to the wedding venue,” says Lauren. “When Jon arrived by boat and told them it was their transport for the day, nobody believed him! We organised for our loved ones to enjoy a scenic 30-minute cruise before arriving at Villa Regina Teodolinda for our wedding.” Goals, right?
In the villa’s sun-drenched garden, Lauren and Jon exchanged vows with spellbinding mountain and lake views as their backdrop. Capping off a dreamy day, the pair then explored Lake Como by boat for a gorgeous photo session with Cloud Nine Photography before returning for a European-inspired reception. “We dined inside the villa with views of the lake, the sun setting over the mountains, and trees full of fairy lights,” says Lauren.
In true Italian style, the newlyweds also served an impressive buffet-style Aperitivo of cheese, breads, olives and cured meats, including carved-to-order prosciutto. “The food was just as we hoped, and our guests were amazed by the whole celebration,” says Lauren. “Sitting together and looking at all of our family and friends who had travelled from seven different countries to be with us was an unforgettable memory we will always treasure.”
