From Toronto to the Adelaide Hills via Paris, Darcy and Jane have crisscrossed oceans for their love story. The pair first met while playing Australian Rules Football in Canada, with Jane eventually following her heart back to Darcy’s hometown of Adelaide.

“Moving across the world with a partner and living together for the first time can really make or break a relationship,” says Jane. “We’re so lucky that it turned out to be the best decision of our lives.”

A two-month trip travelling around Europe and Southeast Asia created the perfect romantic moment for the pair. “Darcy proposed while we were enjoying a baguette and a glass of wine under the Eiffel Tower!” says Jane.

After a move back to Toronto, the couple dreamed of a Canadian wedding — until, Covid. Eventually flipping the script again, they decided on a celebration in Australia, reuniting them with Darcy’s friends and family and introducing Jane’s loved ones to her second home.

There was just one hitch: the venue. “I had a very specific image in my head of a grand view of Adelaide or the ocean,” explains Jane. “There were countless stunning wineries and halls, but nothing that felt quite right.”

That was until the pair stumbled across luxury boutique hotel Mount Lofty House online. Nestled in Adelaide Hills wine country, it immediately hit their brief. “It had breathtaking views, top tier service, and outstanding reviews,” remembers Jane. “We ended up renting a few extra bits and pieces and it was exactly what we envisioned.”

The couple’s list of non-negotiables was delivered on the day. “We wanted a grand view for our ceremony, with everyone seated, a rehearsed first dance, and no ties for the wedding party,” explains Jane. “Originally, we wanted a boho style with lots of dried florals and earthy tones, but in the end opted for a bright, fresh, vibe that still incorporated the terracotta scheme.”

Family also played a special role, with Jane’s mother and father both walking her down the aisle and her brother-in-law playing acoustic guitar during the ceremony.real-wedding-jane-and-darcy-mount-lofty-south-australia-bride-with-bridesmaids real-wedding-jane-and-darcy-mount-lofty-south-australia-groom-with-groomsmen

And how did they honeymoon? “We are lucky enough to have two!” says Jane. “We took a ‘mini-moon’ in Fiji on our way back to Canada. Our ‘official’ honeymoon is in May 2023, travelling to South America to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu then spending a week relaxing at a resort in Columbia.”real-wedding-jane-and-darcy-mount-lofty-south-australia-bride-and-groom-portrait
