“VANUATU HAS A SPECIAL PLACE in our hearts,” says Deanna, revealing why location scouting with her fiancé was a piece of cake. “We visit every year and got engaged at the Holiday Inn Resort. It was also a great opportunity to show our loved ones why we love the country so much.”
Thankfully, the distance didn’t stop Michael’s 95-year-old grandmother from attending the nuptials. “Seeing the excitement and joy on her face was beautiful,” recalls Deanna. The bride’s gorgeous Anna Campbell gown was a ceremony showstopper, while piña colada welcome drinks (served in coconuts, naturally!) and an enthralling fire display were crowd favourites at the beach reception, overlooking the shimmering Erakor Lagoon. The guests enjoyed a delicious feast of Asian and Melanesian dishes under a romantic marquee, before the dance floor kicked off! “Some guests said it was the most fun they have ever had at a wedding,” says Deanna. Wedding planner Erinah played a key role in the event’s success, helping with even the smallest, most practical details. Visiting Port Vila five months prior also helped put the couple at ease.
The wedding might be over but its spirit lives on, as Deanna explains: “Having a destination wedding creates a special place for you and your partner – and a great excuse to go on holidays for anniversaries!”
