Why did you choose a destination wedding?
Bali is where we went on our first overseas holiday together and we just fell in love with the whole experience.
Why did you select that venue?
The White Rose was the first hotel we stayed at in Bali and we loved it. The rooms are great, the gardens are beautiful, and the staff are friendly… so it made sense.
How did your guests react to you choosing a destination wedding?
We had approximately 25 guests attend including us and our daughter. The majority of guests had visited Bali before and love it, and those that hadn’t been before were very excited to go somewhere new. Everybody had a wonderful time.
Your favourite memory of the day?
Other than becoming husband and wife, we loved having our daughter involved in our special day. Also, because we had a smaller number of guests we got more than enough opportunity to socialise with everyone and enjoy our day.
What style did you base your decorations on?
Frangipanis with Western decorations and food. Frangipanis made sense because in Bali they’re everywhere… plus, they’re also my favourite flower.
How did your coordinator help you?
Shanti was amazing right from the very first email we sent enquiring about inclusions and pricing. She advised on everything – from what documents we needed, right through to drinks, food, decorations, flowers, hair and makeup, accommodation and much more. On the day she was amazing, getting the ceremony and reception set up just as we wanted it, making sure Brett and the guys were getting ready on time and making sure that I didn’t spent too long outside in the heat once my makeup and hair were done.
What was the best thing about having a destination wedding?
Having Shanti organise everything made it stress free for us. All we had to organise were invitations, getting there and our outfits. Shanti had the rest under control. Also, we got to spend 16 wonderful days in Bali with our families and friends and had an unbelievable holiday and wedding.
