“The first look with my husband was something just for us before the wedding started,” says Maddison. “It was one of the best moments of my life.”

“We honestly couldn’t have picked a more perfect place,” says Maddison of the romantic clifftop retreat where she and Lachlan celebrated their dream wedding. “People constantly ask us about the details of the day, and comment on how it all came together.”Real-Wedding-Maddison-Lachlan-Silavadee-Pool-Spa-Resort-Thailand-bride and groom first kiss- wedding ceremonyThe Australian-based couple chose Silavadee Resort on Koh Samui after spotting its breathtaking views and exclusive beach online. “We always knew we wanted a destination wedding and both love Thailand,” says Maddison. “Silavadee was the best fit both in terms of aesthetic and inclusions in the package. Our event planner, Sukun, went above and beyond to make it exactly as we wanted and to give us our dream wedding.”

Expanding their stay at the luxurious island hideaway also allowed the couple precious time to relax and connect with their favourite people. “We got to enjoy ourselves completely for the lead up to, and the day-of, our wedding,” says Maddison. “It felt like a five-day wedding celebration rather than a single day.”

When it came to planning from afar, self-confessed “control freak” Maddison admits to a few initial jitters. But these quickly dissolved when she saw how well Silavadee aced the couple’s brief. “The biggest challenge was giving the reins to someone else and not having a clear picture of what it would look like on the day. Sukun requested pictures of everything we wanted, and everything was picture perfect. I couldn’t have designed it better myself.”Real-Wedding-Maddison-Lachlan-Silavadee-Pool-Spa-Resort-Thailand-wedding archOn the big day, pristine sands and turquoise seas created a dreamy backdrop for the bride, stunning in a Made with Love Bridal gown, to make her entrance. Masses of white blooms brought an opulent feel to the coastal locale, with the refined palette accented by natural textures and thoughtful custom details.Real-Wedding-Maddison-Lachlan-Silavadee-Pool-Spa-Resort-Thailand-bride walking down the aisle with her mother

While their beachfront ‘I do’ was magical, the pair also has a special pre-ceremony memory. “The first look with my husband was something just for us before the wedding started,” says Maddison. “It was one of the best moments of my life.”

While the skies remained clear for the couple’s vows, the tropical weather delivered a secret blessing for the pair. “It did rain on our wedding day (the ONLY day of our entire trip that it rained),” notes Maddison. “Ironically, it was funny for us as it has rained on all of special events (proposal, engagement party, and the birth of our daughter).”

The party moved inside for the delicious reception feast and festivities, with everyone riding high on the fun and relaxed holiday mood. “We sat at our sweetheart table and could look at all our guests, family and friends,” says Maddison. “It was amazing.”

The newlyweds chose to contrast the balmy weather of their home country and wedding locale with a fabulous three-week honeymoon around Europe. And though they’re now settled into married life, the whole dreamy experience is a popular talking point. “Everyone, and I mean literally everyone, still commends it as one of the best weddings they’d been to,” says Maddison. “The atmosphere, aesthetic and overall vibe of the wedding was unmatched.”
