We’ve seen our fair share of beautiful destination weddings, here at GDW, but this extraordinary Boracay celebration is definitely a stand-out! Gathering loved ones from across the globe at the magnificent Discovery Shores Boracay, Mitzi and Wei made things official with one seriously amazing tropical-luxe wedding. Four words – wish we were there!
Wanting to tie the knot somewhere beachy and romantic, the couple fell for the postcard-perfect island in the Philippines. “Boracay is such a lovely island,” says Mitzi. “It has everything – from pristine waters to a great party atmosphere!” Sounds like the perfect combination to us!
Taking inspiration from their idyllic setting, Mitzi and Wei worked with Discovery Shores Boracay’s expert wedding planner to bring to life their dream celebration. With loved ones travelling from Singapore and Manila, the two decided to host a stylish event with a real holiday feel. “It was like a big vacation with my family and friends,” says Mitzi.
Spending the morning getting ready with her gorgeous bridal party, the bride met a very dapper Wei in the resort’s incredible courtyard for a heartwarming ceremony. Surrounded by guests and breathtaking ocean views, the two exchanged vows before exploring the nearby beach for a sunset photo-session. What an amazing setting!
As night fell, Mitzi and Wei joined their friends and family in the resort’s beachfront restaurant for a fun-filled reception. The impressive tropical-inspired styling was a hit with guests, as was the gourmet cuisine. “We had a full Filipino menu,” says Mitzi. “We served whole lechon and had an adorable sorbet ice-cream crate.”
Ready to let their hair down a little, the newlyweds capped off a magical day with a marvellous three-tiered cake and hilarious speeches. A real highlight of the night? “When my husband decided to breakdance for our first dance,” laughs Mitzi. Now that’s how you get the party started!
Reflecting on the special day, Mitzi says it was time spent with loved ones that really made everything so wonderful. “Having all my close family and friends there to celebrate the day with us meant so much,” says Mitzi. “Everyone said it was the best wedding ever!” We can see why!
